The following is the list of events which took place in 2011 – it has been left here to show you the range of activities which take place during that particular weekend. Many of these activities recur year after year, and others are year specific. By April 2012 this list will start to reflect 2012 activities as they are confirmed. Don’t miss all of these events while attending Heritage Days The City of Cumberland will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the dedication of City Hall on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 2:30p.m. Festivities will take place on the North Centre Street side of the building near the Bedford Street intersection. Representatives from the Cumberland Masonic Lodge will join City officials in a traditional Masonic cornerstone rededication ceremony. The events of the day will closely parallel those of June 6, 1911, when the original cornerstones were laid for City Hall and for the Masonic Temple on Greene Street on the same day. The Masons will celebrate a rededication of their building earlier in the day. Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization will conduct a one-hour walking tour of St. Peter’s & Paul’s Cemetery on Fayette Street on Sunday, June 12th at 2pm. Queen City Region Antique Car Club...member of Antique Car Club of America (AACA)...will exhibit many antique cars and trucks ranging from early 1900’s to 1970’s in Downtown ...Sat 10am-4pm, Sun 12noon-4pm Allegany Museum...3 Pershing St...Special exhibit on Bicentennial of the National Road 1811-2011; permanent exhibits include Kelly Springfield Tire Museum, Allegany Cty Glassware, Appalachian Folk Art, Archaeology, Historic Fire Protection, Garrett’s Clothing Store, Saks Fifth Avenue Window Display, B&O Railroad, C&O Canal, Whiskey & Beer Production...Sat 10am-4pm, Sunday 1pm-4pmm....Donation Queen City Transportation Museum….210 South Centre….1925 romantic castle-design armory. Sunday, 11:30 am – aprox 50 members will parade from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church to Masonic Temple – bagpipes, Masonic Regalia, and honor guard. At Press time no information is available for the Gordon Roberts House, Transportation Museum, Brooke-Whiting House of Art, and Allegany Museum...please watch for updates. These venues are planning special displays and programming.
